Quads of Bergen
2003-2011
Fashion, Branding
The Quads of Bergen is the quad line of The Cadets drum corps, originally from Bergen County, NJ, but now based in Allentown, PA. In 2003, we designed a T shirt, which would then become the lasting image of the line, appearing as tattoos on members' legs and subsequent T shirts in 2007 and 2011.

  • The Cadets 2013
The Cadets, one of the most honored drum corps in the world, have announced their production for the 2013 season entitled Side by Side. The concept is based on contrast, comparison, and conflict and the production will musically and visually express this idea through different elements. My proposal for the identity of the 2013 show may or may not be used as the identity for the show, but it will appear on the corps' first tour apparel. The graphic idea is simple and in line with the production’s concept. By placing two chevrons facing each other side by side, it forms the letter “X” which stands for the word “by.” The corps will perform the music of Samuel Barber, a classical American composer, and so a classic typeface was chosen to complement the tone of the music.

  • Evan Rodriguez Photography
Evan Rodriguez Photography is based in Boston and brings awareness to the built environment through digital and commissioned photography. Evan's photos are beautifully composed expressions of architecture, landscape, and urban culture. His brand needed to provide a sense of identity for himself as well as his subjects. The logo is a comprehensive yet simple mark with an E on its side to form a skyline and waves underneath that represent nature. It's encircled to denote a camera lens. A condensed sans-serif typeface complements the verticality of the buildings and a subtle use of orange gives the identity distinction. Check out his work at www.erphotos.net.

  • Walpole Public Library
The new Walpole Public Library designed by LLB Architects is sited near the downtown area of this suburb just outside of Boston. The library program is organized around four masses, encased in rectangular fiber cement panels, which anchor the building’s entries. In between them, generous circulation paths, a sculptural staircase, and skylights create a feeling of openness and lightness. The signage was designed to complement the building's architecture, utilizing a single, squarish sans serif contemporary typeface throughout all environmental graphics including exterior signage, dedication plaques, donor signage, vinyl graphics on glass, directory and room identification. The exterior canopy is adorned with dimensional aluminum lettering painted brown, matching the accent brick on the base of the exterior. Donor signage is applied on stainless steel plaques to complement the hardware and finishes of the interior architecture, and room signs are produced on translucent acrylic plates, adding greater depth and dimension to evoke the lightness of the central atrium. Geometric environmental graphics wrap the floor-to-ceiling glass study rooms in an abstract pattern mimicking the fiber cement panels. The signage package not only communicates and informs, but strengthens the conceptual design of the architecture. • Boyden Library
On the morning of Saturday, January 28, 2012, the Boyden Library in Foxborough, MA broke ground. Designed by LLB Architects, the project includes a new addition and renovation of a 1960s brutalist building by Kilman Hopkins Greeley and Brodie. Collateral for the groundbreaking ceremony included an invitation mailer and program featuring a monotone rendering in the town's navy blue color. The typeface Helvetica was chosen to compliment the existing midcentury building and serif font Georgia was also used for its similar proportions. A reccuring motif in a simple broken line hints at the groundbreaking event. During construction, a job sign will be posted at the site, and the layout of information takes it cue from the vertical windows hanging from the clerestory of the existing building.

  • Eva Zeisel Originals
Eva Zeisel Originals is an online retail store established in 2006 offering high-end quality furniture and collectibles designed by world famous industrial designer Eva Zeisel. Working closely with Eva's grandson and company founder, Adam Bass Zeisel, the brand identity was designed to reflect the essence of Eva's work, graceful, fluid, and rooted in a human touch. Her method of working involved a very hands-on approach and so a delicate hand became the symbol of the company. The items on Eva Zeisel Originals reflect some of her latest creative ideas. For production on a mass scale, the furniture and collectibles were precisely drawn and recreated based on original, hand-carved pieces. A pamphlet was also designed for marketing, trade shows, and retailers.

  • Common Boston 2010
Common Boston is a volunteer organization dedicated to expanding public awareness of the built environment in and around Boston. The idea of the Common Boston 2010 brochure is a balance of rigor and playfulness. Pertinent information for events and maps are set with a tight typographic hierarchy utilizing the DIN font family to compliment the logotype. A friendly and playful font, Sketchetik, is utilized as the display face throughout the brochure for neighborhoods and page titles. Sketchy lines add a bold but balanced graphic element to each spread and complement the lines of the logo and the contours of the display font.

  • The Cadets
The Cadets is one of the most honored drum corps in history and it needed to recreate its brand to be more in line with the current image of the corps. Since the corps’ formation 75 years ago, there is only one image that has stayed consistent - its uniform. The maroon and gold West Point style uniforms are immediately recognizable like no other in the drum corps activity. The main element of the logo is an abstraction of a piece of uniform – the embroidery on the sleeves. Because of their repetition and orientation, the arrows connote the idea of dynamism, innovation, and forward thinking. Their boldness portrays power. A partial outline around the arrows represents the idea of being on the edge and pushing the boundaries, and assists the arrows in appearing more dynamic. It is also the letter C, for Cadets.

MUDEO assisted DREAM Collaborative in completing this design proposal for a new development in Jamaica. • New Renewal
The project describes a strategy which revitalizes the city through building in existing urban fabric. By finding the underutilized volumes in the dense city, and building in unused development rights, a building can exist in harmony with its surroundings without disruption. The proposal becomes a new kind of building, one that exists adjacent to and hovering over existing buildings, like a tight-fitting, three-dimensional puzzle. The aesthetics of the building represent this change in relation to context. It is a symbol of the virtual man-made lines of the city, plot lines and building height restrictions.
